Andy is German, so we celebrate some German traditions in our home. Advent is one of them. Advent is a celebration of the coming of the Christ child. For the 4 Sundays before Christmas, families and friends gather together to sing songs of the season and then eat. We had 5 families host this year: 1st-Alex's, 2nd-Us, 3rd-Keller, 4th-Knox/Niemi. Each hosting family is responsible for the food whereas the songbooks which contain both English and German tunes travel from house to house. I was happy to host, thrilled to clean up, and am thinking about next year (maybe we could invite more people next year because our basement will be finished). Advent is just a fun way to celebrate the season and keep a focus on Christ. (Friends invited this year were the Wahlquists who are now "in" and will host a Sunday next year and the Pearses)
